The Bafra J Project Meeting was organized together with the Turkish Society of Clinical Immunology and Necmettin Erbakan University during The 57th Annual Congress of Turkish Pediatric Association. The main topic was ‘The diagnostic difficulties of Primary Immunodeficiency (PID)’.This Meeting was held on May 24, 2022 and primarily focused on the diagnostic problems in the patients with PID for pediatricians.
The moderators of Bafra J Project Meeting were Prof Müferret Ergüven, MD and Prof Ilhan Tezcan who is the president of Turkish Society of Clinical Immunology. Prof Ilhan Tezcan gave a lecture about “The genetic background of PID”. He mentioned the diagnostic difficulties and diagnostic delay in the patients with PID after discussed the structural characterictics and molecular basics of immune system. After an informative talk on the history of J Project Meetings in Turkey and in the world, Prof Ismail Reisli gave his lecture about “the late onset Adenosine Deaminase Deficiency (ADA)”. He presented a patient with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) due to ADA deficiency and mentioned the characteristics of classical SCID phenotype. The patient was diagnosed at her second month of life, treated with bone marrow transplantation and healthy 13-year-old girl now. Prof Reisli also presented his patient with late onset ADA deficiency.  The second patient has treated with intravenous immunoglobulin supplementation and enzyme replacemant therapy. She had diagnosed at 20 years old during the seventh year of her follow-up with a diagnostic delay of 18 years. She has bronchiectasis and chronic lung disease now. Depends on these two patients with ADA deficiency, Prof Reisli said that the early diagnosis was very important for PID patients. At the end of the session, he also mentioned that the effective therapy depends on early diagnosis of PID patients. 
There were 42pediatricians attended this meeting. The participants discussed the importance of early diagnosis and early treatment of the patients with PID and the infectious and autoimmune complications.
