Balance is defined as the ability to control the body's center of gravity over the support area. Information from 3 sources is needed to maintain balance: the eyes, semicircular canals, and position-sensing receptors. The inactivity that comes with modern life, constantly walking on flat surfaces, and always using our eyes to look inward at close ranges negatively affect our balance control. This situation can increase the risk of falling, especially in old age, and can lead to fractures.
We did balance control development exercises with our Medical Imaging Techniques Program students and faculty members, led by Lecturer Fatmanur İLGİN. The exercise program, which included eye muscle and focus development exercises, balance control on one leg, and balance control with eyes closed, was a fun experience.
