Nursing third-year students provided education on nutrition and breastfeeding to pregnant women as part of the practical work for the Maternal and Child Health Nursing course. This training was organized to help pregnant women have a healthy pregnancy process and to manage the postpartum breastfeeding period effectively.
During the training, the importance of healthy nutrition, balanced consumption of daily food groups, and weight control were emphasized. It was highlighted that adequate and balanced nutrition during pregnancy is critical for both maternal and fetal health, and information was provided on how to meet vitamin and mineral needs. The students offered practical suggestions to the pregnant women, shared healthy recipes, and provided tips on how to prepare these dishes.
In the breastfeeding education section, key points for mothers during the breastfeeding process were discussed. The positive effects of breastfeeding on infant health, the importance of breast milk, and breastfeeding techniques were explained in detail. Additionally, guidance was given on potential challenges during breastfeeding and how to overcome them.
This practical work contributed to the nursing students' ability to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, helping them become effective health professionals in the future regarding pregnancy and breastfeeding processes.
