As part of the National Afforestation Day celebrated annually on November 11, saplings were planted simultaneously in all 81 provinces across Turkey. At our university's Köyceğiz Campus, the saplings met the soil in a meaningful effort to raise environmental awareness and work towards a greener Turkey. The Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Demirel, and Faculty Secretary Rabia Ünüvar participated in the event, actively supporting the initiative and joining students in planting trees. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Demirel emphasized the importance of environmental awareness in the tourism sector and highlighted how such activities foster a love for nature and encourage sustainable living habits. Tree planting contributes to combating climate change, supports biodiversity preservation, and enhances green spaces. Additionally, it exemplifies a collaborative effort that strengthens partnerships between the university and the community, contributing to a sustainable future.
