Breathing regulates electrolyte balance, blood flow, hemoglobin chemistry and kidney function, and has a significant impact on behaviors such as motivation, mood, focus, perception and memory. Studies have found that breath control practices can help reduce symptoms associated with anxiety, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and attention deficit.
We did breathing exercises in various patterns with our Vocational School Medical Laboratory Techniques students, focusing on our bodies for fitness and stress control.
