'Climate Change Trainer Training' Program Started at Our University

The opening program of the "Climate Change Trainer Training Project", prepared by Konya Provincial Directorate of National Education and accepted by Mevlana Development Agency, was held at the Erol Güngör Conference Hall of our University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty.   The training for teachers and administrators who want to improve their knowledge and skills on climate change will be held between 28 February and 04 March 2022. Teachers who take Turkish, Life Sciences, Social Studies and Science courses, which include global climate change achievements in their curricula, will participate in the training.   Academicians from our University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education and Konya Technical University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences will provide training to the participants under the titles such as Strategies and Policies for Climate Change Education, Integration of Climate Change into the School Curriculum, Education and Training Materials for Teachers and Educators, Safe and Sustainable School Campuses. .   Speaking at the opening program, Vice Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Mızırak stated that we feel the consequences of climate change in many areas and emphasized the necessity of carrying out studies in this field. Stating that our university will continue to support all studies to be carried out at this point, Prof. Dr. Mızırak wished the "Climate Change Trainer Training Project" to be beneficial.   Provincial Director of National Education Seyit Ali Büyük stated that Konya hosted an important program, the 'Climate Council', last week and touched upon the importance of raising awareness about the issue of climate change, which concerns the whole world. He stated that this training, which will start today and last for 5 days and will be given to a total of 100 teachers from 4 fields, will grow and expand like water rings, and will extend first to all our teachers and then to our students. He thanked Konya Deputy Halil Etyemez, who was closely interested in the project, the administrators and academics of our University, MEVKA General Secretary İhsan Bostancı and everyone who contributed to the project, and wished that the training would be productive. MEVKA (Mevlana Development Agency) Secretary General İhsan Bostancı said in his speech that the concept of climate change, which we have started to hear about frequently in recent years, has become one of the biggest environmental, economic and even social threats of today, affecting all countries. Bostancı also included the following statements in his speech: "As Mevlana Development Agency, we have provided support to many projects aimed at combating and adapting to climate change. Increasing the use of renewable energy in sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry and tourism, especially in the manufacturing industry, disseminating the circular economy and focusing on energy, "We designed and implemented technical and financial support programs for the efficient use of resources, including   Konya Deputy Halil Etyemez stated in his speech that, within the scope of the project, 100 teachers working in Konya and teaching Turkish, Life Sciences, Social Studies and Science courses will be given training on combating climate change. Etyemez continued his speech as follows: "With this training, our valuable teachers will provide training that will raise awareness in all our schools. With this project, it will contribute to the solution of today's major problems such as environmental pollution, soil pollution, climate change, desertification, drought and water scarcity. Today, one in every 9 people in the world , is struggling with hunger. This means that 821 million people go to bed hungry every night. 33 out of every hundred food items go to waste in the world. 1/3 of the wasted food is enough to feed all the hungry people in the world. Climate change will affect our world by 2050 It will force more than 216 million people into internal migration. The struggle for oil in today's world will be replaced by water and food in the near future. One in every 3 people in the world today does not have access to safe drinking water. By 2050, 5.7 billion people in the world will have to drink water at least once a year. "He will live in places where water is limited for 1 month."  After the protocol speeches, the training given by our academics started.
