The sustainability of agricultural production depends on the protection of the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. The protection and maintenance of these properties is possible by increasing the organic matter content. Compost is the process of decomposing organic substances into simpler organic and inorganic substances. A good compost is rich in plant nutrients, organic matter and useful organisms. Composting is actually a process that takes place everywhere in nature and is a nutrient recycling in the ecosystem. Composting is a chain of processes that are formed by examining and imitating this natural event well. In other words, this ongoing decomposition event in nature is encouraged and in a sense accelerated by creating ideal conditions. Our vocational school students were informed by our Vice Principal Lecturer Alican Bahadır Semerci about the importance of sustainability through recycling practices of household waste.
