The ecological awareness event, organized by students from the Graphic Design Department under the coordination of Lecturer Gül Mengeş, focused on upcycling practices. As part of the project, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles—a key component of solid waste management—were repurposed through artistic and functional interventions to create aesthetically pleasing planters. These sustainable designs, featuring floral arrangements, were integrated into the campus’s open spaces (school garden) and displayed as vertical garden installations. Throughout the event, practical solutions were developed to address the question, “How can we contribute to the environment through sustainable product development processes?” The role of design in raising environmental awareness and its ecological added value were highlighted from an interdisciplinary perspective.
