Within the scope of the “Volunteering Studies” course conducted by Prof. Dr. Kübra Küçükşen, a faculty member of the Department of Social Work at Necmettin Erbakan University Nezahat Keleşoğlu Faculty of Health Sciences, and coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Tekin, a “Campus Clean-Up and Environmental Awareness Activity” was carried out on campus. As part of the activity, waste materials in and around the campus were collected, contributing to environmental cleanliness.

Environmental pollution is recognized as a significant global challenge, and clean environments and sustainable cities are among the key priorities emphasized within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In this context, the activity represents a concrete example of how global sustainability objectives can be supported at the local level. The activity demonstrates that volunteering is not limited to a theoretical framework but can be effectively translated into practice through community-oriented initiatives. It aimed to enhance students’ awareness of environmental issues, promote active citizenship, and encourage the adoption of sustainable lifestyle behaviors. Furthermore, the activity contributed to strengthening solidarity, cooperation, and a sense of belonging among students. Acting collectively towards a common goal not only improves the physical environment but also fosters shared values and social responsibility. The improvement of the campus as a cleaner and more livable space is considered a significant outcome both physically and in terms of value-based development.

The activity also served as a role model by raising environmental awareness and supporting the dissemination of a sustainable environmental consciousness. Conducted with a strong sense of responsibility towards nature and the environment, this initiative represents an important step towards the development of sustainable living spaces. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ayhan Uludağ, and all participants who contributed to this meaningful activity.
