299 students from 25 countries studying at universities in Konya played for unity and solidarity in the football tournament organized under the leadership of our University. In cooperation with our University and Two East Two West Association, it was decided to organize a "World Cup Football Tournament" event for foreign students studying at various universities in the city to get to know the country better and to socialize with Turkish students. As a result of contacts with 5 universities in Konya, a football tournament was organized with the participation of 299 students from 25 countries. Kazakhstan won the tournament, which lasted about a month, by eliminating Turkey in penalties. "The Organization Had the Characteristics of a Mini World Cup" Vice Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Oğuz Doğan said that the organization was very beautiful and meaningful in terms of the integration of nations. Stating that Turkey is good at hosting foreign students, Doğan said, "The most important thing here is that 299 student athletes from 25 countries participated in the tournament. The organization had the characteristics of a mini world cup. Because the matches were completed in a month." Prof. Dr. Emphasizing that the tournament, which lasted about a month, ended without any problems, Doğan said: "It is a sweet time for these students coming from abroad to increase their communication with Turkish students and each other, to preserve the bond of love between each other, and to be ambassadors of heart on behalf of our country when they return to their countries." "We tried to create a competitive environment. We held a nice event completely within the rules of sportsmanship." "The Important Thing Was Being Friends and Developing Good Relations" Samat Sapatayev, the coach of the Kazakhstan team that won the tournament, thanked everyone who contributed to the organization. Explaining that their victory was the result of hard work, Sapatayev said, "We worked for a month. This cup is the reward of our efforts. I would like to thank all the teams wholeheartedly. Sometimes players from other nations played in the teams. The important thing was to be friends and develop good relations." he said. Jıldız Amangeldiyeva, who is one of the fans who has not left her team alone since the beginning of the tournament and who has a master's degree at Selçuk University, said that she watched all the matches and that they were very excited about the final match. "We Established Very Good Friendships and Friendships" Turkey's team captain, Albanian citizen Samet Hamzi, stated that they had the opportunity to meet with students from many countries and said, "We established very good friendships and friendships. We always tried to show this everywhere." said. Mahamat Wardougou, a student at the Public Relations and Promotion Department of our University, who is the captain of the African country Chad, which finished the tournament in 4th place, stated that they had a lot of fun during the event, and that the most important element was being able to come together. The "World Cup Football Tournament" event, which started with the group stage after the draw, was attended by Egypt, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Sudan, Niger, Kyrgyzstan, Uganda, Cameroon, Syria, Chad, Myanmar, Somalia, Teams consisting of students from Kazakhstan, Tanzania, Indonesia, Mali, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Burkina Faso and Palestine participated.
