On October 17, 2025, our first-year students in the Department of History Education, accompanied by their advisors, went on a field trip to the Çatalhöyük Archaeological Site Museum and several other museums in central Konya as part of their coursework. First, in the morning, our students went to the Çatalhöyük Museum in the Çumra district. There, they examined artifacts unearthed during excavations and learned from archaeologist Dr. Tuğçe ERTABAK about life, social order, daily life, and the tools they used at Çatalhöyük, one of the world's leading prehistoric settlements. They also visited the excavations at Çatalhöyük, which have been ongoing since 1961. Our students also visited the "Trace of Memory: The Neolithic City of Çatalhöyük" exhibition, hosted by the Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center and organized as part of the Turkey Culture Road Festival. In the afternoon, our students visited the Konya Provincial Education and History Museum and the Karatay Madrasa Museum. Our students, themselves prospective teachers, had the opportunity to observe Konya's educational history from the last quarter of the 19th century to the recent past through the artifacts and school materials exhibited at the Konya Provincial Museum of Educational History. At the Karatay Madrasa (Konya Tile Works Museum), our students examined Konya's tile and stone artifacts, particularly from the Seljuk period. The Dârul Mülk Exhibition Center and the İnce Minare Stone and Wood Works Museum, however, are undergoing renovations and have been postponed for another visit.
