Our university is generating electricity from solar energy with a project supported by Mevlana Development Agency (MEVKA). Thanks to the project, our university is both reducing electricity costs and offering its students an important application opportunity in the field.
The project, which was carried out with support from MEVKA within the scope of the Renewable Energy Financial Support Program, will cover its costs in 5 years.
It was stated that the project, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muciz Özcan, will make significant contributions to the university in many ways, in terms of student education, nature and financially. Necessary feasibility studies were carried out for the installation of a 250 kW solar energy plant to be implemented in the Köyceğiz Campus. Suitable areas for panel installation were determined in line with the architectural project of the university campus area and a 250 kW installed power PV system was designed. As a result of the energy analysis; This plant, which sits on an area of 1900 m2, will generate approximately 426,750 kWh of electricity annually and will provide an annual reduction of 135 m3 of carbon dioxide greenhouse gas. As a result of the financial analysis, it was determined that the plant will generate an annual profit of 167,436.5 TL and the payback period of the system will be approximately 5 years.
It was stated that our university has taken on a regional leadership role thanks to the installation of a 250 kW solar power plant, and that they aim to contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy resources and to meet the needs in social and common areas throughout the university.
