The project titled "Reconstructing Islamic Geometric Heritage from the Seljuk to the Ottoman Era Through Digitally Supported Mathematics," supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the UNIDES Program, was successfully completed. The project aimed to combine traditional art with digital technologies through two phases consisting of training and practical implementation.
During the first phase, a workshop was organized for teachers to examine the mathematical structure of Islamic geometric patterns using traditional drawing techniques. These patterns were then reconstructed digitally through GeoGebra and Sketchpad software, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience in integrating mathematics, art, and digital technologies.
In the second phase, activities were conducted with students at Kaşgarlı Mahmut Secondary School. Students explored traditional geometric patterns by creating designs on paper and in digital environments, contributing to the development of mathematical thinking, digital competencies, and awareness of cultural heritage.
The project team expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Istanbul Design Center, Konya Metropolitan Municipality, project advisor Associate Professor İbrahim Çetin, and the Performance Development Community (Per-Gel) for their valuable contributions.
