Public language education activities play a critical role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Language education facilitates communication between different cultures and increases understanding between communities. This is a fundamental requirement for many of the Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, goals such as education (Sustainable Development Goal 4), gender equality (Goal 5), business understanding (Goal 8) and global cooperation (Goal 17) are supported by the effective implementation of language education activities. Language learning can increase people's participation in the workforce, reduce inequality of opportunity and help societies move towards a more inclusive and sustainable future. Furthermore, language education raises awareness of global issues and environmental sustainability, encouraging individuals to embrace the principles of sustainable development. Public language education activities should therefore be seen as an indispensable tool for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. With this awareness, as the School of Foreign Languages, we have continued to support the language education needed by students and society throughout 2022.
