World Climate Day is celebrated every year on May 15 to draw attention to human-induced climate change and global warming and to raise awareness about it. Climate change has become one of the biggest global problems of our time, with its nature that knows no boundaries and affects all countries regardless of their level of development. Factors such as increasing temperatures, severe droughts, floods, forest fires, decreased biodiversity, and melting glaciers directly threaten sustainable development. Climate change is not only an environmental issue, but also a global crisis that directly affects the health system. Extreme heat waves, increased air pollution, food insecurity, and deterioration in water resources are among the factors that directly affect public health. At this point, the critical role played by nurses in terms of health services is becoming increasingly important in the fight against climate change. In order for future generations to live in a healthy and livable world, we, nurses, must adopt a sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle by taking responsibility at the individual and social levels from today onwards.
