Meeting in the Urban Rural: The Changing Face of the Neighborhood” Seminar Held

In the program series titled “We Need to Talk About This: Inventory for a Beginner” organized by the Turkish Youth and Education Service Foundation, Prof. Necmettin Erbakan University, a faculty member of the sociology department. Dr. Ahmet Koyuncu made a presentation titled "Meeting in the Urban Rural: Changing Faces of Neighborhood". Within the scope of the seminar, it was focused on why neighborhood is important for the discipline of sociology, its structure, functions and functioning, and what neighborhood is. It was mentioned that the neighborhood, which is the subject of social and spatial proximity, is in a process of change through elements such as modernization, globalization, rapid urbanization, migration, population density, consumption, and a transformation in terms of the meanings and functions it assumed in the traditional period. Finally, it was mentioned that the neighborhood changed its quality but was not subject to the extinction process.
