Necmettin Erbakan University was actively represented at the THE Global Sustainable Development Congress 2025, one of the world's most prestigious academic events. Organized for the first time in collaboration with the international higher education ranking organization Times Higher Education (THE) and the Higher Education Council (YÖK), and hosted by Turkey, the congress was held at the Istanbul Congress Center.
The congress opened with a speech by YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar titled "Education for a Sustainable Future: Turkey's Vision and Contribution." Over 5,000 international participants from 110 countries attended the congress. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Özvar highlighted Turkey's rising position in the academic world and Istanbul's strategic importance in cultural and intellectual exchange.
Necmettin Erbakan University was represented at the congress, which aimed to produce solutions for global sustainable development goals, by the Scientific Publications Coordination and Big Data Coordination. The Coordination introduced the university's work and projects in the field of sustainability to the international public.
NEÜ Big Data Office Coordinator Assoc.Prof.Dr.Fatih Kaleci participated in the congress on behalf of our university and shared data-based analyses, projects, and national and international collaborations aimed at sustainable development goals with the participants. In addition, knowledge and experience were shared in many areas such as environmental and social impact analysis, open data policies, sustainable campus applications, and artificial intelligence-supported decision systems.
The academic contacts established at this important event contributed to strengthening scientific collaborations between universities. Necmettin Erbakan University, which plays an active role in international platforms, not only increases its institutional visibility but also contributes to Turkey's sustainable development goals, develops strategic collaborations, and stands out as one of the effective actors in science diplomacy.
