As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, third-year nursing students in the Birth and Women’s Health Nursing course set up an awareness stand on the Seydişehir campus. Located in front of the Faculty of Engineering, the stand aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer among students, with a particular focus on the importance of early detection.
At the stand, nursing students provided an informative demonstration to female students, showing how to perform self-breast examinations using breast models. By explaining each step of the examination in detail, the students emphasized the importance of early detection and addressed questions from visitors. Wearing pink ribbons to boost awareness, the nursing students used this interactive approach to help participants better understand the significance of regular self-examinations for protecting their health.
Prof. Dr. İsmail Reisli, Dean of Seydişehir Kamil Akkanat Faculty of Health Sciences, and Vice Dean Dr. Lecturer İbrahim Çetin also visited the stand, showing their support for this meaningful initiative and commending the students’ efforts to promote health awareness. This support underscored the university’s commitment to fostering health awareness among students. Additionally, Seydişehir District Health Director Mustafa Balcı visited and received a pink ribbon along with an informational brochure prepared by the students.
This event provided nursing students with a hands-on educational experience while offering other students on campus an opportunity to learn about breast cancer and preventive measures. The interest shown by students demonstrated once again how impactful such awareness initiatives can be in a campus environment. This practice demonstrates the power of the institution to resolve many issues internally and shows that it is feasible to work jointly between faculties.
