'One Skate' theater show was organized within the scope of 'Earthquake Awareness Training' with the cooperation of our University Meram Vocational School Property Protection and Security Department and AFAD Volunteers.

The demonstration held at our University Erol Güngör Conference Hall was attended by AFAD Provincial Director Yıldız Tosun, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) School and Training Center Brigade Commander Colonel Yusuf Uysal, Colonel Mahmut Yıldız and Colonel Arif Bel, AFAD Provincial Education Branch Manager Zekeriya Vural. , AFAD Volunteers theater team, AFAD Volunteer 'Tek Paten' playwright Çiler Öz Yılmaz and Meram Vocational School Property Protection and Security Department students attended.

Making a speech before the theater show, Meram Vocational School, Head of Property Protection and Security Department, Dr. Faculty Member Hatice Canan Güngör stated that they carry out awareness studies so that students are aware of their responsibilities while teaching, and said, “As a department, while educating our students, we constantly underline how important their duties in society are when they graduate. They are aware that they play an important role in disasters such as earthquakes and fires that befall the society, and precious young people will practice their profession with this awareness. As we all know, these lands where we live are always at risk of disaster. As a matter of fact, the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, which are called a 100-year disaster, occurred on February 6, 2023, with the painful loss of many of our people. As a nation, we felt this pain and fear in our hearts, and our hearts took us to the earthquake debris. Our citizens, especially competent institutions and organizations, worked wholeheartedly in search and rescue efforts in the wreckage. The presence of our volunteers added strength to our strength. Our university's search and rescue community students also took their place in this mobilization. "I would like to express my gratitude to all those who contributed and congratulate them wholeheartedly," he said.

'The message of art is conveyed to societies more strongly'

Dr. invited all participants of the program to become AFAD and fire brigade volunteers. Güngör said, “Human beings are afraid of what they do not know. Since we do not know when, where and how the earthquake disaster will catch us, the answers to the questions of how we should be stronger, how brave we should be and how we should fight against this fear depend on being prepared. Yes, we are at risk, we are working to be ready and we will continue to work. In order to live with the reality of earthquakes and be prepared, I would like to state that one of the duties of every institution and individual of the society is earthquake awareness. Today, our way of conveying this awareness to you is through art. Because it is obvious that the message of art is conveyed to societies more strongly. Therefore, this theater play will also raise disaster awareness. "The more people it reaches, the more people's awareness of the disaster will increase," he said.

After the opening speech of the program, the theater play 'Tek Paten' was performed and received full marks from the participants. Our University Meram Vocational School Property Protection and Security Department Lecturer İrfan Arguz also took part as an actor in the theater show.
