As part of Biodiversity Day, Necmettin Erbakan University Big Data Coordination, Faculty of Applied Sciences Management Information Systems Department, Faculty of Tourism Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, and SporKonya organized an event on Tuesday, April 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in front of the Faculty of Engineering at the Köyceğiz Campus.

The event was planned as an awareness activity in harmony with nature, aiming to encourage students to participate actively both physically and mentally. The orienteering event organized within this scope offered participants the opportunity to explore nature, work as a team, and experience environmental awareness all at once.

As part of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Güneş also held a hands-on workshop for students on the theme of “Heirloom Seeds and Seed Bombs.” In this workshop, participants were informed about the importance of heirloom seeds, the role of local species in preserving biodiversity, and the future of sustainable agriculture. Students then had the opportunity to learn and practice by participating in the process of making seed bombs that will contribute to the revival of nature.

This event aimed to help students connect with nature, embrace sustainable living, and raise awareness about the conservation of biological diversity. Participants experienced the joy of “leaving a mark on nature” with the seed bombs they made with their own hands.

At the end of the event, various gifts were presented by the project partners to the students who participated in the orienteering competition and to the participants who played an active role in the workshops. Thus, a meaningful day that both reinforced a love of nature and increased environmental awareness was successfully completed.
