Speaking at the signing ceremony held in the Metropolitan Stone Building, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said that Konya stands out with its many qualities; He pointed out that it is one of the most important cities in Turkey in terms of the number of universities, university students and capacity. “NEU is one of the universities with which we have the strongest cooperation”
Noting that nearly 130 thousand students and thousands of faculty members in 5 universities add significant dynamism to Konya, Mayor Altay said, “As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are in cooperation with our universities. One of the universities with which we have the strongest cooperation is Necmettin Erbakan University. With the protocol we will sign today, we will carry out joint work in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry. I would like to thank our esteemed rector for the value he added to our city and for his efforts for the development of our university. Necmettin Erbakan University is walking towards the future with firm steps. Hopefully it will become a much stronger university. We believe that it will be one of Turkey's brand universities. "We, as the Metropolitan Municipality, will always continue to support," he said. “Hopefully, it will be a gateway to income for our farmers”
Reminding that they are carrying out important work in rural areas, especially with the New Metropolitan Law, Mayor Altay said, “We have set three important goals for ourselves outside the center. To complete the infrastructure, strengthen social life, and increase the income of people engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. Our most important priority in rural areas is to increase the incomes of people engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. For this reason, we are trying to be a pioneer and a leader. In this sense, the protocol we will make today will be a new window for us. Hopefully, a mushroom greenhouse will be established within the university campus in Ereğli and at the first stage, we will make it available to our students and local farmers for training. We will continue our work within the scope of this protocol in the future. Hopefully, the knowledge of our university, together with the driving force of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, will be a source of income for our farmers. I hope it will be beneficial to our city. "I would like to thank our esteemed rector and the university community," he said. “Our President is Carrying out Social Municipalism in Every Field”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, on the other hand, thanked Mayor Altay, stating that whenever a request was made to him on matters that were not within the scope of the municipality's interest, he embraced Mayor Altay as if he were the patron of the university. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu continued his speech as follows: “Social municipality is truly a privilege for Konya. Our esteemed President is truly doing social municipalism in every field. For example, there is a very nice activity we did before the protocol; Social Innovation Agency. This is an important issue in determining the road map by taking photographs of many activities beforehand. It is an organization that draws a great road map for our municipality and university at every step. The Social Innovation Agency is just one example. Within the framework of this protocol we will sign, we will cooperate in many areas in agriculture and agriculture, in the field of veterinary medicine and in the field of animal husbandry. I hope it will be beneficial.”
