Our university became the first public university in Turkey to receive the Energy Management System Certificate given by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE). Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu and TSE President Mahmut Sami Şahin attended the ceremony held for the certificate protocol in the Rectorate Meeting Hall. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu stated that TSE is a strategic organization and that they are the first university among state universities to receive the TSE EN ISO 50001 Energy Management System Certificate. Noting that energy supply is one of the important problems of the world, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu said, "Our energy resources are decreasing and becoming more expensive. Our energy consumption is increasing. The greatest contribution we can make at this point is to use the energy we have efficiently. This means a great contribution to the environment, society and our economy. Just as we try to comply with certain saving measures regarding energy efficiency in the country, we, as a university, have aimed to contribute to our country at this point." Stating that the only authorized institution that determines standards in Turkey is TSE, TSE President Mahmut Şahin explained that they provide certification services to increase the quality levels of institutions, especially industrial organizations. Şahin said, "Necmettin Erbakan University applied to TSE regarding the study conducted regarding the TSE EN ISO 50001 certification system, especially in the field of energy efficiency, and was entitled to receive this document after the necessary inspections were carried out by expert teams." Emphasizing that energy costs are increasing every day, Şahin stated that energy consumption is increasing in parallel with the development of industry in Turkey. Şahin stated that as people's living standards increase, the use of electrical devices also increases, and said, "Especially in our public institutions, studies are being conducted to use energy more efficiently. At this point, TSE EN ISO 50001 certification reveals a system for determining the energy policies of our institutions and in this sense, using energy more efficiently and providing savings. With this study conducted at Necmettin Erbakan University, we see that a comprehensive effort has been initiated to update energy policies and reduce energy expenditures. We think that this will make a serious contribution to the economy and the environment. Energy resources are depleting worldwide due to climate change. It is also possible to use energy and public resources more efficiently with this study."
