Our University Provided Barista Training to Those on Probation

With the "Professional Gain with Probation: Barista Training" project supported within the scope of Mevlana Development Agency (MEVKA) Technical Support Program, suspects, defendants, convicts, children dragged into crime, crime victims, who are under the Konya Probation Directorate, are at risk of exclusion from society due to their social and economic differences. Disadvantaged children and staff of the institution received barista (coffee preparation specialist) training at our University.   In the project carried out by Konya Probation Directorate, undertaken by our University Continuing Education and Application Research Center, 30 trainees successfully completed the barista training and were entitled to receive a certificate.   Konya Probation Director Resul Emrah Bilgin, who described the project as an important employment tool and social gain activity for the trainees, thanked MEVKA for supporting the activity, Assoc. Prof., faculty members of our University's Faculty of Tourism. Dr. Ceyhun Can Özcan and Dr. Lecturer He thanked his member M. Cüneyt Şapcılar, the trainees and everyone who contributed.   In the trainings carried out within the scope of the course program, all the skills needed by the coffee industry, from coffee introduction training, application training and cupping (sensory analysis) to the participants, from the selection of coffee beans to grinding, blending, roasting, brewing and presentation, were given to the trainees by expert faculty members.   Trainees who successfully complete the course and receive a certificate will be able to be employed as barista in the relevant units of companies in the coffee industry.
