Our university held the “Necmettin Erbakan University Academic Awards” program to reward and encourage successful academics working at our university.
At the ceremony, plaques and awards were presented to academics who demonstrated outstanding performance in the following categories: NEU’s Stars, NEU’s Rising Stars, Art Scholar Award, Young Art Scholar Award, Project Performance Award, and Patent Award.
The event was held at the Nezahat Keleşoğlu Conference Hall of our university’s Ahmet Keleşoğlu Campus and was attended by Members of Parliament from Konya, Mustafa Hakan Özer and Barış Bektaş; Commander of the 3rd Main Jet Base, Major General Mete Kuş; Konya Chief Public Prosecutor Halil İnal; President of the Konya Regional Court of Justice Mevlüt Gülbudak; President of the Konya Regional Administrative Court Deniz Köse; Konya Deputy Governor Yavuz Güner; our Rector, Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu; university administrators, academics, and invited guests.
Opening the program, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu addressed the audience with the following remarks:
“Success is a matter of tradition. It demands perseverance and dedication. It is born of passion and flourishes through consistency. This is precisely why we attach great significance to our Academy Awards. Treating success with an ordinary commendation is hardly a successful endeavor. Success must be made visible, communicated, and delivered to its rightful audience. In fact, knowing how to celebrate success may be just as important as the success itself. Success ought to be celebrated with both childlike excitement and seriousness, he said.”
They Contributed to Society and Education, Inspired Their Students
Noting that academics work hard and produce results for the benefit of humanity, Rector Zorlu said, "Our academics have published in the world's most prestigious journals. They have written books that will be used as sources and cited. They have produced ideas that will benefit humanity and obtained patents that will add value to our country. They have carried out joint projects with other respected scientists or promising students. They have developed ideas that contribute to society and education. They have made our university's name known through their artistic activities."
Emphasizing that everything necessary to strengthen the climate of success at our university has been done, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu said, "Five years ago, when we first started giving these awards, we talked about a ‘climate of success.’ The climate of success is a phenomenon that lies at the heart of our university and is nourished by the joint efforts of each and every one of us. We are doing everything in our power to foster and strengthen this climate, and we are reaping the benefits. For example, in THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, we ranked first among state universities established in Turkey after 2010. Our rise from 13th to 8th place in the World Young Universities Rankings is also a natural result of this climate. Those who visit the announcements section of our university's website can see our activities in many fields, from social sciences to medicine, engineering to art. Those who look a little more closely will notice that our successes are not limited to publications," he concluded.
A New Era in Scientific Publishing at NEU: Turkey's First Scientific Publications Coordination Office and Elsevier Partnership
