A technical visit was made to TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute and the General Directorate of Mapping, accompanied by a delegation of faculty members from our department.

During this visit, views were exchanged on Career Planning Course activities, undergraduate graduation projects, curriculum recommendations, sector advisory board membership, hardware support to accelerate the sector orientation process of new graduates, as well as internship and employment issues, which are included in the education and training activities carried out in the Space and Satellite Engineering Program.

In addition, cooperation opportunities were evaluated in the process of carrying out postgraduate studies and projects in the academic field, and discussions were held regarding short-, medium-, and long-term goals in the field of the National Space Program, depending on the activity portfolio of the institution.

During the visits, information was obtained about the existing infrastructures of TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute and the General Directorate of Mapping, and consultations were held on the frameworks of possible future collaborations. In addition, the visits made significant contributions to the recognition and visibility of our faculty and department by the institutions that produce and use space technologies.

Our delegation, with the participation of the Deputy Technical Director of the Institute and the Chief Expert Researcher of the Structural and Mechanical Design Group, discussed the historical development and future vision of the institute, as well as the current space activities and the AYAP 1, the first phase of the Lunar Research Program within the scope of the National Space Program, and the announcements made within the framework of the National Space Program. Comprehensive information was provided about the activities carried out by TUBITAK Space within the scope of the task of carrying out the Turkish Space Traveler and Science Mission.

Following the presentation made by TUBITAK Space Research Institute, a presentation introducing our department and explaining the purpose of our visit was made by our department head. After the presentations, views were exchanged on possible collaborations such as internships and projects that would enable our undergraduate students to improve themselves technically while continuing their education. In addition, possible collaborations, both at the graduate level and university-industry-centered, were discussed. For these collaborations to be planned to meet the needs of our country and to be realized on a more sustainable basis, it has been decided to hold a meeting at our faculty at a later date, where the current work of our faculty members and the technical facilities in our department will be discussed in more detail. At the end of the meeting, gifts were exchanged between the delegations.
