The 1st International Ottoman and Turkey Studies Congress (OTAK), organized with the support of Konya Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with our university and KTO Karatay University, was held with the theme of "Those Who Directed Turkish Diplomacy from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic". The opening ceremony of the congress was held by our University Köyceğiz Campus Prof. Dr. It was held in Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall. Our University's Faculty of Political Sciences faculty member Prof. was the first to speak at the ceremony. Dr. Murat Çemrek talked about the importance of diplomacy in war and peace and thanked those who contributed to the organization of the congress. Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of our University, Assoc. Dr. Yakup Kaya, on the other hand, said that the previously held Ottoman Studies Workshop attracted attention and that the scope of the program will be expanded and will continue as the "International Ottoman and Turkish Studies Congress" in the following years. Vice Rector of our University Prof. noted that many studies have been done on Turkish Diplomacy to date, and that research in this field will continue in the future and that better results will always be achieved. Dr. Oğuz Doğan wished that the congress would be beneficial. Stating that Turkish diplomacy was successful in the Russia-Ukraine war and that efforts were made to eliminate the consequences of the war affecting the world, KTO Karatay University Rector Prof. Dr. Fevzi Rifat Ortaç defined Turkey's position as a country to which the parties in the war apply to reach a compromise as a victory of Turkish diplomacy. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Ercan Uslu said that he predicted that important outputs would be obtained for the municipalities at the congress, and that they wanted to implement the results of the congress as a municipality and hoped that the program would be productive. Ambassador Rauf Engin Soysal, a member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “We are in an international environment where dialogue is replaced by non-dialogue, trust is replaced by distrust, tests are increasing and becoming increasingly complex, there is difficulty in distinguishing between facts, values and concepts, and there are blockages in highlighting common sense. "Throughout history, there have been periods of difficult challenges, and diplomacy has always been at an important point," he said. After the opening speeches, the congress continued with the "City Diplomacy, Future of Cities and Konya" panel. Participants at the international congress, in online and face-to-face sessions; The topics are 'Those Who Directed the Institutional Development of Ottoman Diplomacy', 'Those Who Directed Diplomacy in the Era of Unilateral Diplomacy', 'Those who Directed Diplomacy in the Period of Mutual Diplomacy', 'Non-Muslims Who Influenced Ottoman Diplomacy', 'Foreign Diplomats who Influenced Ottoman Diplomacy' and 'Diplomats from Konya'.
