A seminar titled "Dementia and Polyphenols" was held for our students by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of our Faculty. In this seminar, current information in the literature was presented by Doctor Şenay Burçin Alkan, Lecturer in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. In the opening part of the seminar, epidemiological data such as the definition of dementia, its types and its prevalence in society were emphasized. Additionally, topics such as the types of polyphenols, their presence in foods, how they are absorbed by the human body and their positive effects on health are covered. In the continuation of the seminar, various epidemiological studies revealing the relationship between dementia and polyphenols were discussed. These studies contain important findings about how polyphenol-rich foods may play a role in reducing the risk of dementia and relieving existing symptoms. Our students were given comprehensive information on understanding the effects of polyphenols on dementia and how they can use this information in their professional practice. Our students who attended the seminar benefited greatly from the information presented and increased the efficiency of our event with their active participation.
