In the Horizon Europe Program Expansion of Participation and Spread of Excellence field Twinning 2021 call, the 'REGENEU' project, coordinated by our University, with a budget of 1.4 million euros, was entitled to be supported by the European Commission.   Within the scope of the study, a partnership was established with strong research teams operating at the Fraunhofer Institute and Wuerzburg University Hospital from Germany and Trinity College Dublin from Ireland.   The project manager is Assoc. Prof. of our University, Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Meltem Demirel Kars stated that with the REGENEU project, they aim to spread scientific excellence and expand participation in Horizon Europe projects. Assoc. Dr. Meltem Demirel Kars said, "We basically aim to increase our scientific excellence in the production of biomaterials at our university and to develop domestic products that may have wound healing potential, and at the same time to support young researchers by receiving training in the project and to spread the excellence to our university from the strong universities of Europe." “The Purpose of the Project is to Increase Domestic Production and Scientific Projects”  Assoc. Prof. said that they plan to reduce imports from abroad as much as possible by ensuring domestic production of biomaterials that accelerate wound healing. Dr. Meltem Demirel Kars said, “With the project, we aim to increase the scientific, technological and innovation capacity of our university in the field of development of biomaterials for use in tissue regeneration, to develop the research profile in this field and to cooperate actively between Necmettin Erbakan University Science and Technology Research and Application Center (BİTAM) and European research centers.” We aim to create unity networks. We believe that the capacity and visibility of Necmettin Erbakan University in the European research field will increase with international and domestic educational activities focused on increasing the scientific excellence of young researchers, the development of new projects and the publication of high-impact publications. "In addition, with the knowledge and experience gained from the project partner institutions, studies will be carried out on the production and commercialization of biomaterials that are of strategic importance for our country and require domestic production and can be used in the field of regenerative medicine," he said.   Assoc. Prof. noted that the project team includes researchers from the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Chemistry, Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, Dentistry and Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kars stated that they have a young and qualified team and that a good project future awaits them. “The fruits of the investments made in BİTAM have begun to be reaped”  Our University BİTAM Science and Technology Research and Application Center Director Prof. Dr. Haluk Bingöl said, “In addition to providing analysis services at our center, our professors from different fields carry out their scientific studies in Thematic Laboratories. The Twinning project, which received support of 1.4 million euros, is just one of the products of these scientific studies. I believe that our young researchers, who will receive training in Germany and Ireland within the scope of the project, will play an important role in increasing domestic production in our country. "In addition, this project, which is one of the outcomes of the important investments made by our university in BITAM, will make great contributions to our university having a greater say in the international arena," he said.
