Necmettin Erbakan University (NEÜ) Nezahat Keleşoğlu Faculty of Health Sciences delegation visited Meram Down Syndrome Results Life Support Center (DOSD Meram). The visit was attended by NEÜ Nezahat Keleşoğlu Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tuğrul Yılmaz, Vice Dean Dr. Lecturer Aysun Yeşiltaş and Department of Language and Speech Therapy academic staff Res. Asst. Süleyman Kocaoğlu and Res. Asst. Hatice Kavruk Mutlu.

Within the scope of the visit, it was planned to end the cooperation between Nezahat Keleşoğlu Faculty of Health Sciences and DOSD Meram and especially for the Department of Language and Speech Therapy to take an active role in the evaluation and therapy packages for individuals with Down Syndrome at the center. In addition, support issues regarding seminars and informational information for families were discussed.

DOSD Meram was established as a center that provides general services to individuals with Down Syndrome and their families, under the leadership of Meram Municipality, in cooperation with Necmettin Erbakan University and Meram District National Education Directorate. The center would create an important mission that aims to socially unite Down Syndrome individuals with mental, emotional, spiritual and communication details.

Support for Education and Rehabilitation Services

During the visit, DOSD Meram Association President Mehmet Munfalıoğlu provided information to the delegation about the center's activities. He stated that the center's mission is to meet the needs of Down Syndrome individuals for health, harmony, education and participation in social life. In addition, he stated that they aim to bring academic, sports, social and cultural areas to the general public by emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and diseases.

Munfalıoğlu, who toured the therapy rooms, activity areas and sports facilities to the Nezahat Keleşoğlu Health Sciences Faculty team, also shared detailed information about the education models and scopes applied at the center.

This visit and the joint cases planned afterwards made a significant contribution to the strengthening of the cooperation between NEÜ Nezahat Keleşoğlu Faculty of Health Sciences and DOSD Meram and the joint violence data to increase the life expectancy of people with Down Syndrome.
