Son yıllarda ortalama yaşam süresinin uzamasına paralel olarak dünyada ve ülkemizde yaşlı nüfus artmış bu durum yaşlı bireylere yönelik sağlık, sosyal güvenlik ve bakım hizmetlerine olan ihtiyaçların da artmasını sağlamıştır. Özellikle bakım hizmetlerine yönelik ihtiyaçların karşılanmasında önemli bir rol oynayan Huzurevi-Huzurevi Yaşlı Bakım ve Rehabilitasyon Merkezleri, yaşlı bireylere huzurlu bir ortam sağlayarak onları korumak, barınma, beslenme, sosyal, psikolojik ve sağlık bakım ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak için kurulmuş yatılı hizmet kuruluşlarıdır. Hemşireler, yaşlı bireylere profesyonel bakım veren meslek gruplarındandır. Verilen hizmetin niteliğinin artması için yaşlı bireylerin gereksinimlerine uygun olması, onların toplumdan beklentileri, kendilerini nasıl algıladıkları gibi konuların dikkate alınması gereklidir.  Bu amaçla Halk Sağlığı Hemşireliği dersi kapsamında Konya Sille Meliha Ercan Huzurevi sakinlerini ziyaret edildi. Ziyarette huzurevi idari ve sağlık personeli tarafından öğrencilerimize huzurevinin genel tanıtımı yapılarak, yaşlılara verilen hemşirelik hizmetleri anlatıldı. Sunum sonrasında öğrencilerimiz ve  huzurevinde kalan yaşlı bireyler sohbet edip, eğlendiler.

In recent years, parallel to the increase in average life expectancy, the elderly population has grown both globally and in our country. This trend has led to an increased need for health, social security, and care services for the elderly. Particularly, Nursing Homes – Residential Care and Rehabilitation Centers play a crucial role in meeting the needs for care services, establishing residential facilities to provide a peaceful environment for elderly individuals, and addressing their accommodation, nutrition, social, psychological, and health care needs. Nurses are among the professional groups that provide care to the elderly. To enhance the quality of the services provided, it is essential to consider the needs of elderly individuals, including their expectations from society and how they perceive themselves.

With this goal in mind, as part of the Public Health Nursing course, a visit was made to the Konya Sille Meliha Ercan Nursing Home. During the visit, the administrative and healthcare staff of the nursing home provided our students with a general introduction to the facility and explained the nursing services offered to the elderly. Following the presentation, our students and the elderly residents engaged in conversations and enjoyed each other's company.
