Originating in India, yoga is a practice for the body, soul and mind. Yoga aims to unite the mind, body and soul. According to yoga instructors, the mind and body are one, with the right tools and environment, harmony occurs between them and the body can heal itself. Therefore, it is considered therapeutic. The benefits of yoga on human physical and mental health have been scientifically proven. It works by making people feel better, reducing stress, improving the quality of life, and reducing the dominance of the sympathetic nervous system. Physically, it increases muscle strength, flexibility and lung breathing capacity. Fulden Sari, a yoga instructor at our event, gave information about the use of yoga in chronic diseases. Clinical yoga involves the use of traditional yoga practices to prevent, heal, and/or correct disease. The role of self-management and increased physical activity is of great importance in the treatment of chronic diseases. Due to its therapeutic effects, yoga can be considered an alternative approach for those with chronic diseases.
